About this construction invoice template

Use it to bill a finished job or one stage of a larger one. The header carries your details and invoice number, the job section has the project name, site and work period, and the lines cover labor, materials, equipment, subcontractors, permits and site cleanup.

It is a plain invoice with line items. It is not an AIA G702/G703 application for payment, so if your contract asks for that form, use that form instead.

To bill in stages, make one invoice per stage and use the deposit / paid box for earlier payments.

Questions

Is this an AIA progress billing form?

No. It is a simple invoice. Progress billing forms such as AIA G702/G703 are separate documents.

How do I invoice in stages?

Make one invoice for each stage and put a different work period on each. Enter what the customer has already paid in the Deposit / paid box.

How are the totals worked out?

Each line is quantity times rate, rounded to the cent. The subtotal is the sum of the lines. A percent discount comes off the subtotal, tax is added at the rate you type, and any deposit or amount paid comes off to give the balance due. Leave the quantity blank for a flat price.

Does it work out sales tax for me?

No. Sales tax rules and rates differ by state and by item, so you type your own rate or leave it blank. Nothing is looked up. This is not tax or accounting advice.
