About this time card calculator

Enter the time in and out for each day and the hours add up exactly. Totals show as hours and minutes and as decimal hours, so you can use whichever your payroll needs. Set an unpaid break in minutes for the whole card, or type a different break on a single day.

If the out time is earlier than the in time, the shift counts as running past midnight. Rounding to the nearest 5, 6, 10, 15 or 30 minutes is a setting you choose for each day. Employer rules and state law vary, so use what applies to you.

Overtime is shown only from the limits you type, daily, weekly or both, and the pay figures only if you enter a rate. Print the card, or save a PDF, with the totals filled in.

Questions

How do I convert hours and minutes to decimal hours?

Divide the minutes by 60. For example 8 hours 15 minutes is 8.25 hours, and 8 hours 10 minutes is 8.17 hours when rounded to hundredths.

How are overnight shifts handled?

If the out time is earlier than the in time, the shift is counted as ending after midnight, so 10:00 PM to 6:00 AM is 8 hours.

Does it work out overtime?

Only from the limits you type. It does not know any overtime law and is not a payroll service. Check the rules for your employer and state.

How do I save it as a PDF?

Press Save as PDF, then choose “Save as PDF” as the printer in the print window. Pick US Letter or A4 in Step 4 first. It prints on one page.
