About this contractor quote template

Start with a clear scope of work: what you will do, where, and what is not included. Then price the labor, materials, subcontractor work, equipment and permits as separate lines and let the totals add up.

The terms box is blank so you can use your own wording for payment schedule, exclusions and how long the price holds. Some states require specific wording, licence numbers or notices on home-improvement contracts. Check your state or ask a lawyer.

Questions

What should the scope of work say?

What you will do, where, which materials, and what is not included. The clearer it is, the fewer disputes later.

Where do I put exclusions?

In the Terms, exclusions and notes box. Write it in your own words.

How are the totals worked out?

Each line is quantity times rate, rounded to the cent. The subtotal is the sum of the lines. A percent discount comes off the subtotal, tax is added at the rate you type, and any deposit or amount paid comes off to give the balance due. Leave the quantity blank for a flat price.

Does it work out sales tax for me?

No. Sales tax rules and rates differ by state and by item, so you type your own rate or leave it blank. Nothing is looked up. This is not tax or accounting advice.
