About this invoice generator

Type your business details once (they stay on this device), then the customer, the job and one line per item. Each line is quantity times rate. The subtotal, discount, tax and balance due are worked out exactly in cents, and the same figures print on the page.

The tax rate is whatever you type: nothing is looked up, so use the rate that applies to your sale or leave it blank. Terms start as “Net 30”, a common choice you can change. Everything stays in your browser and it works offline once the page has loaded.

Need a trade version? Use the picker for contractor, construction, HVAC, plumbing, electrician, landscaping, cleaning or handyman lines.

Questions

How are the totals worked out?

Each line is quantity times rate, rounded to the cent. The subtotal is the sum of the lines. A percent discount comes off the subtotal, tax is added at the rate you type, and any deposit or amount paid comes off to give the balance due. Leave the quantity blank for a flat price.

Does it work out sales tax for me?

No. Sales tax rules and rates differ by state and by item, so you type your own rate or leave it blank. Nothing is looked up. This is not tax or accounting advice.

Can I make a bill or statement instead?

Yes. Change the title in Step 2 to Bill, Statement or anything else. The layout and totals stay the same.

How do I save it as a PDF?

Press Save as PDF, then choose “Save as PDF” as the printer in the print window. Pick US Letter or A4 in Step 4 first. It prints on one page.

Templates and calculators are for general use only and are not legal, tax or accounting advice.
