About this HVAC maintenance checklist

Use it as an HVAC preventive maintenance checklist, a seasonal tune-up sheet or a furnace and AC service checklist. Readings such as CO, refrigerant pressures, capacitor values and temperature split go in the Notes column. For hot water and steam boilers, use the boiler maintenance checklist.

Questions

What does an HVAC maintenance checklist cover?

This one covers controls and filters, furnace checks (burners, heat exchanger, flame sensor, venting, CO test, safety switches), AC checks (coils, refrigerant readings, capacitor, contactor, temperature split) and airflow. Remove anything that does not apply to the unit.

Can I use it for a furnace-only or AC-only visit?

Yes. Remove the section you do not need with its ✕ button, or change the title to Furnace Maintenance Checklist or AC Maintenance Checklist.

How often should HVAC equipment be serviced?

Most manufacturers recommend a heating tune-up before winter and a cooling tune-up before summer. Follow the equipment manufacturer and any service agreement you have with the customer.
